The Robert College Alumni Association (RKMD) continues to bring alumni and community members together through a series of thought-provoking conversations focused on health, wellbeing, and personal development.
On April 2, RKMD hosted a wellattended discussion titled Brain Longevity at Bizimtepe. Led by Prof. Dr. Özlem Güngör Tunçer and moderated by Op. Dr. Mert Tanal RC 09, the event explored the foundations of maintaining a healthy and resilient mind throughout life.
Participants had the opportunity to engage in discussions on mental resilience, focus and performance, and achieving a sustainable work– life balance. The interactive session encouraged attendees to reflect on the habits and practices that support long-term cognitive health, while also offering new perspectives and practical insights for everyday life.
Building on the strong interest generated by the Brain Longevity event, RKMD is continuing the conversation with a new program addressing one of today’s most pressing challenges for families: childhood in the digital age. On May 11, child and adolescent mental health specialist Berna Aygün led a talk titled From the Pleasure Principle to Reality: Childhood and Violence in Digital Spaces. Moderated by Op. Dr. Mert Tanal RC 09, the session examined how digital environments shape children’s perceptions of reality, the impact of exposure to violence, and the importance of healthy communication and boundary-setting in an increasingly connected world.
As children grow up surrounded by screens, social media, and digital content, questions about psychological well-being and healthy development have become more relevant than ever. The event aimed to provide parents and caregivers with valuable insights and practical guidance from an expert perspective.
Through initiatives such as these, RKMD continues to create opportunities for lifelong learning, meaningful dialogue, and community engagement. The association plans to expand its series of health-related conversations in the coming months, offering alumni and friends new opportunities to learn, connect, and grow together.
